"This year we welcome a 7 billionth person into the world.

We don't know where. We don't know when.

We do know there's a 1 in 7 chance that person will be born hungry.

For the first time in history more than 1 billion people in the world go to bed hungry each night.

The good news is that there are also over 1 billion people online.

You are one of them.

Just think what we could achieve if all of us did something small to end hunger."

~ World Food Programme ~

With the 'Billion for a Billion' campaign, we, the online billion can take action to help solve world hunger by donating and spreading the word online.

The message is simple:
If everyone does a little, we can achieve unimaginable results.

Here are some ways you can start:

1. Make A Donation

This is one of the most straightforward ways you can help to battle world hunger.

Simply make a donation of any amount to the World Food Programme and you can help to provide relief for people in hunger and poverty.

We'd suggest that the donation be made to the 'Where Most Needed' fund so that it gets channelled to areas that require the most urgent assistance.

3. Play The FreeRice Game

What if you can improve your vocabulary while helping to provide relief for people in hunger?

That's exactly what FreeRice is about.

Created by John Breen in 2007, FreeRice is a simple game that tests and improves your vocabulary.

For every question that you answer correctly, 10 grains of rice will be donated through the World Food Programme.

This is a fun and free way to improve your language abilities while fighting world hunger.

I Wanted To Help

"My grandfather told me about the Billion for a Billion program and I wanted to help. Then I learnt that there are millions of children who die even before they are as old as me. So I am using a part of pocket money to help kids who don't even have food. I want to help more when I grow up."

~ Aditya, 8, India ~
