Quotes About Literacy:

Ecclesiastes 12:11

”The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails--given by one Shepherd.”

Ever since the appearance of words, literacy has been an important trait in the history of mankind. The ability to read, write, and understand opens the door to a world of new possibilities which no other skills can provide. Therefore, it can easily be seen why literacy is a crucial factor to the development of our world into what it is today.

Yet, even in present times, one in every 5 people over the age of 15 is illiterate. This means that there are hundreds of millions of people who are deprived of a proper education, as well as the ability to read and write. This not only prevents them from seeking better employment opportunities, but causes many of them to be stuck in the vicious cycle of poverty. In addition, this would also hinder them from being able to read the Bible, an important way through which God speaks to His children.

Hence, it is apparent how important the promoting of literacy is. The very fact that God chose to use written words to record His instructions to us further attests to the relevance of literacy in our world ever since ancient times.

Therefore, the quotes about literacy selected below are meant to remind us how blessed we truly are to be able to read these simple, yet beautiful words. Simply being able to understand these words means that we are more fortunate than millions of other people all over the world.

As we read through each of these quotations on literacy, let us not forget those who are less fortunate, and allow these quotes to inspire us to do what little we can to help promote literacy in these areas of need.

Lastly, let us also thank God for giving us the gift of literacy, one that we often take for granted. May He help us to continue blessing others through this gift that He has so freely given unto us.
